5 easy Christmas blog ideas for small businesses
Stuck what to write about in your Christmas blog?
When it comes to the most wonderful time of the year, it’s important that the seasonal content you put out there is just that, seasonal.
Your business blog should be focussing on all things festive. Whether that’s pushing last Christmas order dates, promoting your gift guide collections or treating your customers to special festive discounts. You want to be engaging those readers who are searching for answers to their specific Christmas-related questions on Google.

But as you’re so busy behind the scenes during November and December, it can be hard to find the time to come up with ideas for blogs. So, as a little early Christmas present, I’ve done the leg work for you! You’re welcome.
Here are 5 easy Christmas blog ideas for your business:
1. Gift guides
If your business sells products then categorise these into logical sections that people will be searching for. Gifts for her, gifts for Grandma, gifts for kids, for example. It’s always a good idea to offer some gifts under £5 or £10 that meet the needs of those on a budget, looking for secret Santa gifts or stocking fillers.
If you are a service-based business, why not offer vouchers people can buy for friends and family? This could be anything from yoga or personal trainer sessions to make-up artist or photography tutorials.
2. Festive behind the scenes
Let your target audience in, give them a sneak peek into your business at this busy time. Use images and reels to show what goes into making your bespoke products or getting orders ready in time for Christmas. And don’t be shy to wear your Christmas jumpers either! It’s all a bit of festive fun and helps build relationships with old and new customers.
3. How to…
Handy guides are always popular. People love to read about ‘how to’ make things, save time or learn a new hack. Whether this is how to create the perfect Christmas table setting or how to save money by shopping local this year, it’s all about giving some added value to your potential customers.
If you sell bespoke, artisan or handcrafted products in your business, then why not do a step-by-step guide showing how to make something? This could be how to put together a fabulous Christmas hamper or how to make your own DIY crackers.
If you work in the wellbeing sector, your blog might focus on how to manage your stress levels this Christmas or how to keep fit during the holidays.
4. Christmas emergencies
Emergencies can come in all shapes and sizes for your potential customers. It’s up to you to show that your business can be there for them if they need you this Christmas.
So, cleaning firms could share blogs with tips for getting mulled wine stains off sofas, then promote one-off pre-Christmas cleans to get the house ready for family visitors. Or offer carpet cleans for the aftermath! Mechanics could write a handy safety check list for winter drivers to push their peace-of-mind vehicle checks for those driving home for Christmas.
If you have a physical shop and you’re staying open for people who need to pick up last-minute gifts/party outfits or get their hair and nails done, blog about it to let your customers know!
Perhaps you offer a next day food and drink delivery service over the festive period? This could be a lifesaver for those too busy to get out. Again, you could put together a blog about what to stock your cupboards with this Christmas, helping them to be more prepared and then signpost your perfectly packaged hampers at the end.
5. Annual round up
Share some big wins of the year, it’s a great excuse to celebrate any success stories your business has had. Maybe you’ve launched a new product or service, perhaps you’ve made some new hires or reduced wastage? How have you helped clients in 2024? Blogging about ‘what’s gone well’ gives potential customers more reason to put their trust in you in 2025. It’s a nice way to end the year in a positive light in your customer’s minds.
There is always a lot of noise out there over the busy Christmas period, so how can you shout louder than your competitors in December?
Keep it relevant – don’t go off on a tangent, you’ll just lose your customer’s interest. Make sure you link your Christmas blog to your business sector, and what you are the authority on.
Be yourself – your customers shop with you for a reason - remind them why. Do you pride yourself on a personalised service? Are you offering something that no one else does? Is your product made locally? All of these points are worth highlighting in your Christmas blog.
Get your blog out early – the early bird really does catch the worm here. It’s no good waiting until the last week of December to post your Christmas blog. Ideally you want to get it out there in November, after all the Halloween and Bonfire Night content has been and gone.
Blogging attracts customers
Remember, blogging boosts visits to your website (by as much as 55% in comparison to businesses who don’t blog, according to HubSpot). With millions of people making Christmas-related searches over this period, you want to get your share of the visits.
Hopefully you’ve come away inspired with ideas for writing a Christmas blog for your business! But don’t worry if you still can’t find the time or don’t know how to write it, pass it my way.
